I just introduced Mandi to Flight of the Conchords. The show was recently nominated for a bunch of Emmys, so it’s only right of me to pay tribute to the best thing to come out of New Zealand. They’re always picking on the Aussies…

On their website they have a section on the differences between Aussies and Kiwis. I particularly like this bit:
Australia is full of crap that will bite you, eat you or have a good old go at killing you. Even after all this time the most dangerous thing in NZ are bumblebees (every year there a few folk who get stung and discover they are allergic to them and have a bit of a bad reaction). Short of a cow going to sleep and falling on top of you, you’re pretty safe in good ol’ NZ.

Flight of the Conchords is ace. I was late getting into it but it did mean I was able to watch it all in one go.

I totally heart this show!!! I’ve been watching a season one marathon with my boy CC+4 – SOOOOOOOO funny!!!!

They’re the best! Check out their HBO special that spawned the TV show, you might be able to find the full episode floating around somewhere, but there are pretty big chunks of it on You Tube.
A Free Man – I agree about the 2nd season. I saw an interview where they said they struggled a lot with coming up with new ideas. For the 1st season they already had a lot of the songs written so they just wrote the plot around the songs. But for the 2nd season they were coming up with plot lines first and then writing songs to fit in, so I think that’s where some of the magic was lost.

Do you know what’s weird? None of my Aussie friends have even heard of FOC! They were showing it late night on Channel 10 or the ABC but none of them have heard of it. I love it, though
